Global Digital Government Summit

A Media Tunnel using LED screens with sensors, tracking movement of the visitors at the Global Digital Government Summit. For this project, the client wanted a digital tunnel as an entrance to their main stage area. The concept behind it is simple yet thoughtful. On the way inside, they wanted their guests to see a humanoid figure representing themselves. As the guest walks further in, the figure disperses into pixels, indicating that they have accepted digitalization. On the way out, the guests view themselves, once again, as humanoid figures taking away "knowledge" (represented with particles) out of the show. Indicating that they are now more knowledgeable about the digital world. As they walk out of the venue, the knowledge turns into a ball of energy which they are now ready to go out into the world with.
The technical setup features two wide LEDs. The guests' position was tracked using radar touch. Since the tunnel was wide enough for two guests to walk through side by side, the sensors were placed on either side so that each sensor tracks only one of two people walking together and displays their humanoid figure on the corresponding LED screen. The application ran separately on each LED with a limit of five figures per screen. On show day, the tunnel was up and running with additional graphical elements supporting it, such as messages which also trigger with the guest's position along the tunnel.
