Expo 2020 Stages

Expo 2020 Dubai - the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, brought together more than 190 countries to explore new ideas, form new connections and collectively tackle some of the greatest global challenges. The 10 pre-Expo thematical weeks were organized and was broadcasted live with Mimic's virtual event solution, the Mimic Stage. They featured multiple Q&A sessions, presentations, polling, and panel discussions among experts from their respective fields The show was also simultaneously interpreted in multiple languages. This series of virtual events is just the beginning of how we can still continue to bring people across the globe together seamlessly via digital and hybrid solutions, integrated with today’s latest technology and capabilities.
During the 10 weeks, I ran the visuals and show controls for 6 of the weeks. These were prepared within short deadlines, highlighting the flexibility of the Mimic Stage. Each show began with a controlled rehearsal with esteemed speakers, from government leaders to international experts and researchers, who joined from various parts of the world through a live call, followed by a completely live run of the entire show, which included live Q&A sessions from audiences and more. This production was a high-pressure, high-reward experience. My personal takeaway was how calm and focused I can be while controlling the stage, as well as how seamlessly our entire team operated—from the show directors, to the call handlers, to the vMix handlers, to the audio specialists, and the broadcasters. It was a dynamic, flexible, and streamlined team for each show.
